A new high-clarity polypropylene resin offers exceptional aesthetic qualities, together with high production throughput in form-fill-seal food applications.
With high transparency and gloss, mechanical strength and stiffness, Clyrell RC 514 L outperforms standard polypropylene in both aesthetic appeal and processability. It is indicated for high-output applications in the packaging of fresh foods and ready-meals in aseptic-filled, pre-packed FFS blisters.
Hot-fill capability
Excellent thermal resistance allows packaging made from Clyrell RC 514 L to be hot-filled, pasteurised and microwave-heated.
“The resin can replace more conventional FFS polymers such as polystyrene and PET because its combination of properties makes this grade a particularly competitive alternative at the moment,” said Cees Besems, Basell’s project manager for innovation and new business.
Weight and costs savings
”Further, there are weight savings that can be achieved using Clyrell RC 514 L. Customer trials have demonstrated that a 25% weight saving can be achieved compared to A-PET, leading to a direct cost saving for the end user.”
